Track, music world revered Jerry Moss. Jerry Moss, co-founder of A & M Records in 1962, was known as a big horse racing fan and owner of the great mare Zenyatta, the only female to win Breeders' Cup Classic in 2009 at Santa Anita Park. He was also a member of the California Horse Racing Board. He was 88 when he died on August 16 in his Bel Air home.

A college diploma dated February 13, 1942 from the University of California at Berkeley will be awarded to Arcadia resident Edward Tokshi. Tokshi was sent to a Japanese-American detainment camp in 1942 during his senior year at Berkeley. Forced to relocate away from the West Coast after the war, Tokshi completed degree requirements in Chicago.

Risto Milosevich, an Arcadia resident for many years, now living in El Toro, is due to receive the Medal of Honor. Milosevich and the other men in his platoon held off a force of German soldiers for 18 hours in December, 1944.
