First community dial office in the Bell system was located in this 29 ft. x 33 ft. building at 19 East Alice. It belonged to Southern California Telephone Company.
Egner Construction Company of Gardena will starting building second apartment in the city on West Huntington Drive. Earlier in January, the Egner Company took out a permit for a 21-unit apartment on Fairview Avenue. See hard copy of newspaper in Box 51.
The Santa Anita Companies have chosen the Pasadena architectural firm of Neptune & Thomas Associates to design the new $12 million, 70,000 square-foot medical office building to be constructed on race track property in Arcadia.
Engineering-Science Companies' new $5 million headquarters building, located in Arcadia, houses a national computer center and one of the firm's regional laboratories. The firm designs air and water pollution control, water supply and solid waste management projects.

The architectural firm of Sevar and Associates and Dave Szany and Associates have relocated their offices in the restored and remodeled Southern Counties Gas Building. The building, constructed in 1926, is one of the original buildings on First Avenue. It was the home of the Gas Company for 33 years.
Some Arcadia redevelopment land was OK'd for sale to Dr. James Chinn for the development of a new medical building. The property is at the corner of First and Wheeler, the site of the old library. The cost of the land and building is estimated at $900,000.

New El Rancho Building, a 2-story store and office affair, located at 1200 W. Huntington Drive, is nearing completion, with occupancy expected in March. Rancho Santa Anita, Inc. are the owners of the new building. Architect is Rowland H. Crawford.
Tonight Arcadia City Council will explore building a new $12 million City Hall after the proposal was shelved in 2009 for financial reasons. The existing City Hall is undergoing a $2.3 million renovation and remodeling that includes a new heating and air conditioning system, energy efficient windows, new wiring, carpeting and painting. If Council moves forward with new building, the existing one could be used as a community center.
A new office building is being constructed on the corner of Huntington and Indiana. It will occupy the site of the old service station run for man years by William Stockman, but which has been closed for some time.
A new 3-story office building at First Avenue and Huntington Drive should have its ground breaking ceremony before November 10, according to Warren Lortie of the development firm W.L.A. Arcon.
A proposed five-story office building and adjacent bank building will be put before the Planning Commission. The site is the southeast corner of Foothill and Michillinda.
