The jungle area of the Arboretum is being restored with a $250,000 grant. The jungle has been badly damaged due to heavy use and a fire. It is being restored as a prehistoric jungle garden.

Community meetings will be held to determine public preference on the name for the Arboretum. The County prefers that the facility be called Botanic Garden.
Two articles on the fire which damaged First Avenue Junior High School. The longer discusses the arson investigation, the second discusses the general fire investigation, seeking the beginning point for the fire.
19 officers are in hangar at Ross Field in Arcadia as part of their training as Reserve Officers Balloon Personnel. J.H. Hoeppel in white shirt is on the right (kneeling). Lt.C.P. Kane, was in charge of the class. He is 4th man from left (next to balloon) in second row.
The newly renovated auditorium at Methodist Hospital has been named for Samuel J. Vance, a former patient there. This was made possible by the Berger Foundation. The article includes the names of family members.
