The Outback Steakhouse, a 340-seat restaurant whose opening in December will coincide with the completion of Arcadia's Downtown 2000 makeover, has been criticized for having received special consideration by the City.
The Arcadia City Planning Commission voted unanimously to allow McDonald's restaurants to open an "Express" restaurant at 1311-B South Baldwin Ave. This will be the second "Express" restaurant in the state; "Express" refers to the limited hours of operation (daily 8 AM to 9 PM), menu, and lack of drive-through services.
Work scheduled to begin shortly on new 1,200 square foot banquet room at the Derby Restaurant, 233 East Huntington Drive, in the Arcadia redevelopment area.

Bennigan's Restaurant, part of the Southside Development between Second and Fifth streets on East Huntington Drive, is preparing for an expected July 4th opening.

Arcadia may soon have a new Japanese restaurant at the Hughes Market Shopping Center on Huntington Drive. The Planning Commission approved a conditional use permit to operate a restaurant at 1121 and 1123 East Huntington Drive.

Arcadia Denny's at northeast corner of Huntington Drive and Santa Anita Avenue to restore collapsed windmill. The building's original occupant was Van de Kamp's Holland Dutch Bakery. The windmill had been previously restored and reactivated on June 29, 2016. About $100,000 was spent refurbishing it at that time.
25-year-old entrepreneurs Dustin Nicolarsen and Michael Thomas co-own The Derby, the historic Arcadia steakhouse. The two give back to their community by hosting a fundraiser to benefit their high school.
