Car #331 of Pacific Electric pictured very close-up. It is close enough to notice the advertising cards inside car above seats. Car appears to be very early one. This photo belongs to the Los Angeles County Arboretum. It is shown here for research only.
Elias J. "Lucky" Baldwin on left and Richard F. Carman Sr., one of America's early horsemen. Photo was taken probably about 1907 and printed in newspaper of March 1937 at the time of Carman's death. Carman's horses won four races and placed second in two others on opening day of Baldwin's Santa Anita Race Track.

Four columns in the front. The address of City Hall was 3 N. First Avenue, as listed in the city directory.

House at 180 West Huntington Drive, Arcadia, located just north of the municipal athletic field adjacent to Arcadia City Hall. It was part of the Le Meridien hotel land but is being sold Salvation Army and moving to Pasadena. In the year 2000 this was the location of Oakcrest Adult Rehabilitation Center. In this photo, notice its house numbers in disrepair. See document "State Wars on Bookies." A house at 180 West Huntington Drive in Arcadia was raided and four men were arrested who were using binoculars to catch the race results and flashing them to bookmakers throughout the nation. A Japanese family (child, mother, father) pictured by small house they lived in on Harry Ainsworth Ranch which was just east of intersection of Santa Anita and Orange Grove Ave. The father was the head gardener for Ainsworth. Name unknown.
Looking SW from mountains north of Arcadia. Major tree-lined street running from mountains south is Santa Anita Avenue. Southernmost tree-lined street cutting across entire middle of photo is Duarte Road. Barracks at the Balloon School can be seen just below Huntington Drive. Notice that Huntington Drive stops just west of the Balloon School, at the Baldwin Ranch. Much of Foothill area was planted to citrus.

O.D. Harris home on NE corner, 15 E. Orange Avenue (later street name changed to 15 Colorado Blvd). It is listed in 1928 City Directory as on Orange Avenue address. House was demolished about 1960*. Twenty people standing and sitting in front of house, gathered for a McCoy family reunion.[*The house stood until 1962 according to description of photo ID 1029. Noted 7/25/2011.]
On Ainsworth Ranch just east of Santa Anita and Orange Grove Avenue. Pictured on left is a wooden garage on stone foundation. Parked near is family Packard Touring car with top down. Beyond can be seen small bridge on Santa Anita Avenue which spanned the Sierra Madre Wash.
