Betty Rochefort, President of the Friends of the Library, joins Gloria and S.H. Wen and Kent Ross, City Librarian at the Arcadia Public Library, during a recent Day at the Races benefit for the Arcadia Public Library Foundation. S.H. Wen is a member of the Foundation Board.

Left to right, in boat - Mr. Mathews, Mrs. F.D. Black, Mr. Stocker ("Lucky's son-in-law), Mrs. H.C. Wyatt, in white; Mrs. Stocker (Lucky's daughter) and Mrs. Scott. House at 22 E. Foothill Blvd. It housed a dress shop called the Copy Cat from about 1967-1975. During the 1930's and a bit into the 1940's, it was operated as a popular family restaurant. Prior to the Copy Cat years (about 1952-1960), Rita Thompson had it as her real estate office.

John "Jack" Ott, dressed in Indian Headdress is seen kissing the nose of an Indian pony (his daughter seemed to remember). Photo apparently was taken on north side of Anita Baldwin's home, Anoakia, shortly after it was completed. Mr. Ott was born in 1877 and came to Arcadia about 1907. He became City Marshal in 1914.

This photograph was published in the Arcadia Tribune, August 20, 1956 with the caption: Here comes mama--By all indications from this picture, it looks as if the children weren't the only ones who were having a good time at the recent Arcadia Recreation Department city-wide track meet. The Tribune camera caught Mrs. Mary Turner as she broke the tape in the "feature" race of the afternoon. Running a close second in the event is Mrs. John Panatier followed across the finish line by Mrs. Lucas.
