Restaurants in Downtown Arcadia will participate in the Chamber of Commerce event “2018 Taste of Arcadia” at the Los Angeles County Arboretum and Botanic Garden on September 24. Matt Denny’s Alehouse Restaurant will be appearing with new owner Long Nguyen, and Claro’s Italian Market (a staple of Arcadia since 1948), Mt. Lowe Brewery, Vendome Wine & Spirits, and Villa Catrina will be participating.

British retail giant Tesco considers selling its struggling U.S. grocery market Fresh & Easy Neighborhood Market. The El Segundo-based chain is losing money and Tesco has hired investment bank Greenhill to review options. Fresh & Easy has 200 stores in California, Nevada, and Arizona. The new Hughes El Rancho has been opened on the site occupied for 33 years by the old El Rancho Market. Hughes acquired the El Rancho chain in March 1979. The original market and four neighboring shops were razed to make room for the new structure.
