In this view we are on ranch property looking west through gate toward town of Sierra Madre. Tall eucalyptus are on Santa Anita Avenue. Car is driving through stone-based pillars of gate. Wistaria vine in blossom covers frame over entry.

An open field apparently planted to grain and having a large oak tree, would be present site of Highland Oaks School. Left to right: Mrs. John Panatier, Mrs. Lucas, Mrs. Mary Turner. Mrs. Panatier and Mrs. Lucas are wearing dresses as they run. This photograph was published in the Arcadia Tribune, August 20, 1956 with the caption: Here comes mama--By all indications from this picture, it looks as if the children weren't the only ones who were having a good time at the recent Arcadia Recreation Department city-wide track meet. The Tribune camera caught Mrs. Mary Turner as she broke the tape in the "feature" race of the afternoon. Running a close second in the event is Mrs. John Panatier followed across the finish line by Mrs. Lucas.
