Beth Decoteau (now Beth Fournier) was first female firefighter in 2003. Hall of Fame jockey Julie Krone was first woman to win a Breeders' Cup race. Louise Brandsma was the first female patrol officer in 1978 and first woman sergeant in 1983 in Arcadia Police Department. Catherine Murphy is a retired City Treasurer and WASP (Women's Air Force Service Pilot). Marie Schmitt is one of the city's first woman physicians.
