A 19-year-old man who was killed in a house fire in Arcadia was identified as Cheng Ming Dai of San Gabriel. A 16-year-old remains in critical condition and may be arrested and charged with arson. The house was located at 130 West Longden Avenue.
A $25,000 reward has been approved for information leading to an arrest of the ecoterrorists who attacked several sports utility vehicles in the San Gabriel Valley.
73-year-old Jesus Plasencia Lopez from El Monte has been arrested for a fatal hit-and-run. He allegedly drove a Saturn that hit Guey-Ying Wu and her husband Chia Wu at Santa Anita Avenue and Camino Real Avenue in Arcadia. Lopez is being held at Los Angeles County Jail on $50,000 bail.
A 75-year-old building at 330 East Duarte Road, which was purchased as a chapel for the Wesleyan Holiness Community Chapel Church, is considered to be unsafe and "in complete disrepair" by the Arcadia Planning Commission.

Aaron Sharp of Port Hueneme posted a time of 15:01 to win his third straight Santa Anita Derby Day 5K at Santa Anita Park last Saturday. It was the 20th anniversary of the race.
About 1,000 local Taiwanese-Americans protested a proposed anti-secession law Saturday outside the Chinese Consulate General office in Los Angeles. Arcadia resident James Liang was one such protester.
About 40 members of the Arcadia Chinese Association protested in front of the Chinese Consulate General offices, condemning the Chinese government for killing unarmed students in Beijing.
About 220 Holly Avenue School students are already on the year-round schedule, currently in its 7th year of year-round instruction. Principal Bill Robinson invites local residents to an informational meeting about the school's year-round educational program.
According to El Monte City Attorney Sidney Maleck, there is new information that shows El Monte is not involved in political "posturing" when it objects to a mini-storage facility and a landfill just across its border in Arcadia.
