Despite opposition from residents, the Arcadia City Council cleared the way for a property owner to build a 7,730 square feet home on a 27,000 s.f. corner lot on the city's north side, on 1100 block of San Carlos Road. The council's 3-2 vote overturned the Santa Anita Oaks Homeowners Association's Architectural Review Board and the Planning Commision. The owners are Hourig Baghdadlian and her husband.

Arcadia Methodist Hospital's new wing, a $140 million, 184-bed tower, that opened last month, largely replaces 2 hospital buildings built in 1957 and 1967. This new building helps as Arcadia Methodist Hospital (AMH) plans to address the risks of buildings collapsing during an earthquake. Joe La Brie, a structural engineer said AMH has addressed utility line hazards. Acute services are being relocated to the new tower. A video created by three Arcadia High School graduates went viral and brought people to a school board meeting alst week, in support of fired cross country coach James O'Brien. The creators of the video are Esmond Wei, Ben Hsueh, and Sergio Rodriguez. The video was posted on YouTube.com and had more than 10,000 views in three days. A week later, it had more than 16,000 views.
