A gala benefit opening has been set for October 12, 1974. Broadway and Buffums will help the Assistance League, the Pasadena Symphony Association and the Arcadia Methodist Church to put on the evening from 7 to 10 at the Mall.
A child care center will open September 15, 1975 at the Arcadia Presbyterian Church for all children. It is not geared toward working parents, but it is a special supplemental program to expand a child's experiences.
Serbian Orthodox Church of Christ the Savior at 1424 S. Baldwin Avenue. This congregation bought property from the American Lutheran Church (later became Lutheran Church of the Cross) in 1963. Note 9-17-2008: The 1963 date of sale is not certain as the 1964-65 city directory has the Lutheran Church of the Cross still occupying 1424 S. Baldwin Avenue. Lutheran Church of the Cross moved into a new building in June, 1965 according to item #15 in the Arcadia - Churches VF, so the building may have changed hands in 1965 - (Yvonne Ng).

Dr. Kay Clifford, president of the Board of Education and candidate for re-election, has dropped out of the race. Clifford has been called on a 3-year mission for his church.
Article is a farewell for the Cliffords, who will be leaving Arcadia to head a mission for the Church of Latter Day Saints. Dr. Clifford has been a member of the Arcadia Board of Education for the past 4 years.
Project Alert, a drug education and referral service, offers assistance to teenagers with drug problems. Available 24 hours a day, the officer on duty at the Sierra Madre Police Station will provide a referral to a volunteer staff of professionals.
Fourteen-year-old Ron Cheney earned $1,000 for the Arcadia Presbyterian Church's youth fund by eating chicken. In a contest sponsored by the Market Basket food chain, Ron ate 1.28 pounds of chicken in 10 minutes.
