A woman pedestrian was critically injured in a hit and run and an Arcadia police officer suffered injuries in a second mishap, both in heavy traffic outside Santa Anita Park. The female victim also suffered the theft of her purse just minutes before the auto mishap.

Santa Anita Fashion Park's plan to expand its facilities to include a Nordstrom Department store and additional small retail stores is scheduled to come before the Arcadia Planning Commission at its November 27 meeting. According to Chuck Cline, general manager of the mall, plans are very much in the preliminary stages and no architectural plans have yet been drawn.

The prince, who is president of the Federation Equestre Internationale, the international organization for Olympic equestrian competition, walked out on one end of the field and waved to the crowd during a brief appearance.
