Arcadian Ken Nute sued the Velvet Turtle Restaurant after a meal he ate there gave him a case of food poisoning. The Los Angeles County Department of Health Services found 24 health code violations.

C. Loree "Jack" Russell, member of the Arcadia City Council for the past two years, was elected presiding officer of the council and will serve the city as Mayor.
Mrs. Lucille H. Urban was appointed by the Arcadia City Council last week to fill the vacancy in the Arcadia Water Department left by Miss Gladys Randall, who was discharged.
Girl Scout Amy Nunn, 15, is the youngest recipient of the Gold Award, the highest achievement of the Sierra Madre Girl Scout Council. She collected almost $6000 at a canned food drive at Santa Anita Church for the Arcadia Welfare and Thrift Shop.
