Residents of a 23 acre triangle north of Jeffries and west of Mayflower still hope to become a part of Arcadia. Monrovia has protested the move, because they had thought it would include properties on only one side of Mayflower, only to discover that both sides were involved.
A hearing was held re the Arcadia Unified School District definition of segregation. The Board's criterion is that a school is segregated only when one minority group exceeds 50% of that school's enrollment.
Disaster planning, incorporated in Arcadia's Master Plan, is now being polished for final approval. Contingency plans are designed for fire, earthquake, plane crash, etc.
The City of Los Angeles plans to file a suit against Los Angeles County and welcomes other cities to join in a class action suit to force the County to tax residents of unincorporated areas directly for services provided. This would, in effect, lighten the burden on incorporated cities and residents.
The City Council took another look at the application for a religious solicitation permit submitted by the International Society for Krishna Consciousness (Hare Krishna).
The Arcadia Board of Education approved a tentative $16.7 million budget. Included was an increase in special education programs. The figures are only estimates and will depend in part on any state school finance formulas to be decided.
Robert Considine, Pasadena City College trustee from the Arcadia district will not seek another term. December 9 is the first day to file for the March 8, 1977 election. January 1 is the deadline for filing.
Arcadia will no longer be represented on the Pasadena City College Board of Trustees by one member. A new alignment of districts splits Arcadia into two trustee areas.
SCAG will conduct hearings on an area transportation plan. The results will be incorporated into a comprehensive plan for all of Southern California due to be completed April 1, 1975.
Arcadia High School is the only school in the country to offer a class in race track management. Requirements to take the course are stiff. The aim of the class is to expose interested seniors to executive management techniques.
Summary of possible candidates on the Republican ticket for the 61st Assembly district. Monrovia City Council member Patricia Ostrye is the only declared Democratic candidate. The deadline to file is Wednesday, February 11, 1976.
Residents of the Arcadia portion of Hillcrest Blvd. and Valencia Way have urged the City Council to close Hillcrest and make Valencia a dead end. An alternative would be the erection of stop signs along Hillcrest.
The Arcadia City Council reaffirmed its decision to barricade Hillcrest Blvd. near Valencia Way. The reasoning is that motorists would then be forced to disperse traffic rather than concentrate usage on one street.
