The Arboretum has been awarded a $25,000 grant from the Institute of Museum Services. The money will be used for a computerized system to inventory and store information on the Arboretum's plant collection.

California Thoroughbred Breeders Association Library is open to the public and has official charts detailing the performance of every horse in every race for thoroughbreds run on the North American continent for the last 100 years; breeding and racing records of every thoroughbred produced in Great Britain and America for over 200 years; extensive, but incomplete, records from Australia, France, Chile and others.
San Gabriel Valley residents and medical authorities chastised the Los Angeles County Supervisors over the lack of hospital facilities and health care centers in the San Gabriel Valley even though the Valley has a large portion of the County's population.
Arcadia resident James Dobson has written a number of best selling books, all of which deal with problems encountered in family life. Other authors in the family are Dobson's wife Shirley and daughter Danae. Article enumerates Dobson's other activities and responsibilities.
The Arcadia chapter of the Red Cross is seeking to become a regional subcenter for blood collection and processing for the Los Angeles and Orange County areas. Authorities say that such a center on the grounds of the Methodist Hospital would be ideal.
Arcadia resident Ed Honeywell has plans to build a backyard solar still to produce alcohol from lawn clippings. He intends to mix the alcohol with gasoline to produce fuel for his car. All of these plans depend on Honeywell obtaining proper licensing for the still.
The lawsuit against the city of Arcadia by the Arcadia Tax Reform Committee & Paul Gann's People's Advocate will be heard April 20, 1979. The committee has collected $4020.00 from 22 cities to date.
A U.S. government depository is now being readied for Arcadians. A representative collection appropriate for this community will be selected out of the approximately 22,000 items available.
The Arcadia Police Department has decided against a strike at this time, but vowed to fight City Hall over a contract dispute. A 5% salary increase was approved, but not the extensive retirement benefits which were sought.
