Two men suspected of robbing the California State Bank on Huntington Drive on February 5th have been arrested. Roosevelt Davis of Duarte and Steven Wesley Berry of Ontario are being held in the Arcadia City Jail.
At least 40 officers from five different agencies joined a massive search Thursday for a man suspected of robbing the California State Bank in Arcadia. Roosevelt Davis, 25, was arrested in an Arcadia neighborhood after the search.
The husband and wife suspected of enslaving and torturing a 20-year old woman from mainland China allegedly kept a second slave and may have imported as many as a half dozen people into the United States. Dianji Zhai and Hua Jiang of Arcadia have been arrested.
A 21-year-old woman was the third person raped at gunpoint this year, and police suspect that they may be by the same person. All three women were accosted by an African American man in his 20's or 30's wearing a black cap. They were accosted in the early morning with a gun while alone in their cars.
Funeral services were held May 30 for Marie S. Donnelly, a longtime member of the Arcadia Republican Women's Club who died May 25, two days short of her 96th birthday.
On January 1, 1997, Arcadia's float will be the community's 84th consecutive entry in the Rose Parade, but it may be the last one due to lack of funds.
