Arcadia Methodist Hospital workers vote to unionize. The nearly 700 technical employees, nursing assistants and other workers have voted to join the Caregiver Healthcare Employees Union (CHEU). The CHEU is a sister union to California Nurses Association. The employees want to win strong union representation, better benefits and improved conditions for employees and patients.
The Arcadia Board of Education will ratify a contract with the Arcadia Teachers Association. Still to be settled are contracts with classified employees and with the Arcadia Pupil Support Services Association.
A confrontation between the Board of Directors of the Juvenile Diversion Program and Ron Weber, Executive Director of the Regional Office of Criminal Justice Planning, has resulted in a renegotiation of the start for this project. Application deadline looms for Arcadia small-business grants totaling $1 million. The applications are due December 29, 2022 and the program is funded through the federal American Rescue Plan Act. The grants can be used for physical improvements to a company's place of business, updating digital marketing and branding and other improvements focused on attracting new customers. 626 Night Market, an Asia-inspired market event returns for its ninth season at Santa Anita Park Friday through Sunday, with a phased reopening and reduced capacity. Admission is $5 plus fees.
Grocery Outlet Bargain Market opens new store at 104 East Live Oak Avenue in Arcadia. This location created 30 new jobs. Independent owner-operators are Chris Phillips and Amanda Sandoval.

A continuous left turn lane will be provided in the center of Duarte Road from Lovell Ave. to Baldwin Ave., and directional left turn lights will be installed at the Baldwin and Duarte intersection. This was passed by the Council, requested by the West Arcadia Business and Professional Association.
By a vote of 3-2, the City Council OK'd seeking Federal funds for the construction of an auditorium. The School Board has already voted to appropriate $4000 of the $6000 needed to update old plans.
