VACCO, one of Arcadia's oldest firms, is celebrating 50 years of business in the city. As part of the 50th anniversary celebration, VACCO had an "oldest invoice" contest.
Arcadia's Ken Burrows will serve as president for the 1999-2000 Tournament of Roses year. Burrows announced "Celebration 2000: Visions of the Future" as the theme for the 111th Rose Parade.

Former two-term Arcadia Board of Education member and longtime Arcadia resident Robert E. Kladifko was recently named California School Administrator of the year in the high school principal category by the Association of California School Administrators.
The school board elected new officers for the 1990-91 year. These include G. Michael Allison, President; Robert Kladifko, vice president; and James Bryant, secretary.
The Arcadia City Council unanimously decided to allow music and entertainment events at the 320-acre Santa Anita Park on 30 days over the next year as part of a pilot program. Events can be scheduled for weekdays from 9 AM to 6 PM and on Fridays and Saturdays from 9 AM to 11 PM.
Sandy Snider, historical curator at the Arboretum of Los Angeles county, has written a book to celebrate the institutions 50th anniversary. "Arboretum Album" is the culmination of years of research.
