Arcadia (14-2-1) which went undefeated in winning the Pacific League title, will be chasing its first championship since 1993, when it plays host to the wild-card winner--either Rio Mesa or California--in the first round as the top seed in Division 4.
San Gabriel Valley All-Star softball game dominated by pitching. There were 37 talented players from 25 area schools. Tiana Smith, of Arcadia, received an award as defensive player of the game for the Blue Team.

Santa Anita Park race track hosts 2023 Horse Racing Women's Summit (HRWS) on September 29. Over 150 women from 13 states and Canada gathered for the second HRWS to advance racing by empowering women.
Tough task for no. 15 for Rio Hondo Prep's Kares football team. Rio Hondo Prep has 66 boys on its campus in Arcadia. High school baseball rankings. Arcadia High School is ranked 4th. Last season the Apaches were one of the area's best teams, finishing 22-5 and winning the Pacific League with a perfect 14-0 record. Advanced to the second round of the Division 1 playoffs, losing to Harvard Westlake.
210 Freeway closure returns this week. For second time in a month, motorists face delays during a 5-day shutdown for bridge construction, closing eastbound lanes of the 210 Freeway from the 605 Freeway interchange to Irwindale Avenue. The delays may be more pronounced in the weekday afternoon during peak hours through Pasadena, Arcadia, Monrovia, Duarte, and Irwindale, as the eastbound lanes detour from 6 lanes into 3 lanes.
