Arcadia Police arrested Juan Lorenzo, 31, and Jose Antonio Cruz Ramirez, 26, both of San Gabriel, on suspicion of the stabbing murder of Anthony Berry, 18, of Pomona, at 1300 S. Golden West Avenue. The suspects are employees of Money Pot Shabu Shabu restaurant and became involved in an argument with Berry. Lorenzo will be arraigned January 5, 2012.

A home invasion robbery on December 12 resulted in the shooting death of 35 year old Jose Antonio Parra, while his girlfriend and three small children were locked in a bedroom. It happened on the 11000 block of Kristi Court in unincorporated county area near Arcadia.
Pasadena man Heber Enoc Diaz charged with capital murder of 76-year-old Arcadia woman Chyong Jen Tsai. Also charged were Luis Alonso Cruz Gaitan of Altadena and Isis Ondina Villalobos of Pasadena as accessories after the fact.
Two men were arrested on Camino Grove Avenue and 6th Avenue in Arcadia. They were Thomas Zion, 24, of Arcadia, and Juan Manuel Rodriguezzendejas, 31, of Altadena. Zion allegedly hit Rodriguezzendejas with an ax handle as Rodriguezzendejas was wielding a screwdriver.
Luis Alonso Cruz Gaitan, 33, of Altadena and Isis Ondina Villalobos, 26, of Pasadena, accused of helping suspect named Heber Diaz in the killing of Chyong Jen Tsai, 76, during a burglary and robbery at her Arcadia home on April 9.
Two passengers hurt in bus stabbing inside a Foothill Transit bus on October 31, shortly after 6:00 PM. The bus was on Live Oak Avenue, west of Myrtle Avenue, in unincorporated county area near Arcadia. Nicholas Patito, 51, a transient, was arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon. The two sounded male passengers, age 54 and age 24, have non-life threatening injuries.

Los Angeles County Supervisor Michael D. Antonovich offers $10,000 reward for information about the shooting of Jose Parra. He was shot on December 12, 2011 inside his home in the unincorporated area of Arcadia.
Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa announced at L. A. Live, that the Breeders' Cup World Championships will return to Santa Anita Park in Arcadia, in 2012. It will mark the sixth time that Santa Anita Park hosts the two-day event.
Inglewood's Hollywood Park racing history going to auction. The track recently closed for good, but the 75-year-old Southern California landmark is having a 2-day auction of miscellaneous surplus equipment. Race horse Bourbon Bay became the first horse in 17 years to sweep Santa Anita Park's trio of marathon graded turf stakes races with a half-length victory in the $150,000 Grade 2 San Juan Capistrano Handicap on closing day of the track's 75th anniversary meeting. The jockey was Rafael Bejarano, the first jockey since Laffit Pincay, Jr. in 1978-1981 to win three consecutive Santa Anita Park riding titles.
Santa Anita Park announces 2018 George Woolf Memorial Jockey Award finalists. They are jockeys Alex Birzer, Javier Castellano, Jose Ferrer, Rodney Prescott and Joe Talamo. This award has been presented annually by Santa Anita Park since 1950. Winner to be announced in February.
Cherry Liu, a Sierra Madre City employee was murdered August 1 in a tragic murder-suicide in the 800 block of Sunset Boulevard in Arcadia. Her estranged husband Mel Liu died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
Arcadia Mayor Sho Tay pays tribute to Cherry Liu as the Oct 2 City Council Meeting was adjourned. Liu, 50, who was murdered by her estranged husband August 1, who then turned the gun on himself in a murder-suicide. Liu was a long-time resident of Arcadia and volunteered for the City of Arcadia, frequently acted as an interpreter for city staff to help bridge the gap between cultures.
