Track, music world revered Jerry Moss. Jerry Moss, co-founder of A & M Records in 1962, was known as a big horse racing fan and owner of the great mare Zenyatta, the only female to win Breeders' Cup Classic in 2009 at Santa Anita Park. He was also a member of the California Horse Racing Board. He was 88 when he died on August 16 in his Bel Air home.
Arcadia High School baseball. Arcadia gives Fernando Palencia big lead early in 9-0 win over Pasadena. Palencia, the 2023 Pasadena Star News player of the year, overpowered the Pasadena lineup and helped Arcadia cruise to its second consecutive sweep of Pacific League play.
Trainer Jerry Hollendorfer defends record despite horse deaths as Santa Anita Park. He is in the first phase of trial in his lawsuits against the owners and operators of Santa Anita Park, who barred him from working there after four equine deaths at Santa Anita Park and Golden Gate Fields.

One-year-old ejected from vehicle in Arcadia after a brief police chase in Pasadena. The one-year-old, a 2-year-old, and a 28-year-old woman who was driving, suffered minor injuries. The car crash was at Huntington Drive near Sunset Boulevard.
Tribune/Star-News All-Star Basketball Classic for boys and girls ready to go Saturday at Damien High School after a three-year absence. Three locals from Arcadia, Lavon Domino, Tim Kwan, and Mel Manell, played.
Arcadia will have a Patriotic Reverse Parade and Food Drive. People will drive on the parade route and wave to the "Stars of the parade" who are stationed on the sidewalk on July 2, 2021, 9-11 AM. The "stars" include firefighters, medical and police who have helped the community during the COVID-19 pandemic. Canned food donations will be accepted by Foothill Unity Center.
In hockey news, Dallas Stars play the Los Angeles Kings in Los Angeles today. Dallas winger Jason Robertson was born in Arcadia, California. His family had season tickets to the Kings games before they moved to Michigan when Jason was 10. His brother Nick Robertson plays for the Toronto Maple Leafs.
Fourth horse dies, from training injury during Santa Anita Park's fall season. The horse was a 4 year-old filly named Star of Africa. She was owned by Eclipse Thoroughbred Partners and trained by Patrick Gallagher.
Monterey Park mass shooting one year later. City still lives in massacre's shadow. Permanent memorial to the 11 victims is still in planning stages. In Arcadia, doughnut business owners Francois Ung and his wife Shally Ung remember and honor their friend Andy Kao, a victim of the shooting at the Star Ballroom Dance Studio on January 21, 2023, with a pledge that they will send proceeds from sales at their Arcadia Donuts store on January 20 and 21 to the Monterey Park Hope and Resiliency Center and the Andy Kao Memorial Ballroom Dance Group to assist funding the nonprofit organizations. Muir High School and Pasadena High School will play all home games at iconic Rose Bowl. Arcadia High School and Pasadena High School will play April 1, 2021.
