Thirty young women are the finalists for the 2009 Rose Parade Queen and Court. Four girls are from Arcadia High School. They are Stephanie Lagace, Courtney Lee, Lauren Valenzuela and Samantha Power.

Highland Oaks PTSA gives service awards and installs its Executive Board on May 28, 2003. Yoshiko Hayashi and Dick Grumm received "Very Special Friend" awards. Teacher Teresa Sarrail received the Honorary Service Award. Volunteers Cindy Forillo and Stephanie McNutt also received the Honorary Service Award. Lisa Lucas was installed for a second term as PTSA president.
Arcadia High School seniors Shannon Stockdale and Stephanie Valenzuela were named as princesses of the 2002 Pasadena Tournament of Roses Royal Court. They will reign over the 113th Rose Parade and the Rose Bowl game.

Arcadia High School has been honored with the 2002 BRAVO award for excellence in arts education by the Music Center of Los Angeles. The award recognizes art programs, including music and drama. Notable people Garry Marshall and Gayle Wilson, wife of former California governor Pete Wilson, attended the gala event.
Arcadia painter Ruo Li has won several awards for his landscapes. In January of next year one of his paintings will grace the cover of International Artist magazine.
The Administration at Arcadia High School had to institute a new policy against freak dancing or "freaking" after students got too wild at the Homecoming Dance. Freaking is a kind of dancing in which dancers grind against each other's pelvises. Students who attended the Winter Casual dance had to sign a contract "to conduct themselves appropriately both on and off the dance floor."
American Chinese Culture Association, an Arcadia-based group that promotes greater understanding between the U.S. and China through cultural exchange, will have members give a dance performance at the National Independence Day Parade in Washington DC.
