Long-time resident J. Lyle Cunningham, Arcadia Citizen of the Year in 1983 and former president of the Arcadia Rotary Club, died on December 15th at Methodist Hospital of natural causes. He was 82. Mr. Cunningham was actively involved in the Arcadia Chamber of Commerce, the Arcadia Red Cross, the Church of the Good Shepherd and Arcadians for Arcadia.
J. Lyle Cunningham, a resident of Arcadia for the past 25 years, has been elected president of the Arcadia Historical Society for the 1983-84 year to succeed William D. Long.
Charles E. Gilb, president of Arcadia Educational Foundation announced opening of office for the Foundation at 30 E. Santa Clara St. Lyle Cunningham as office manager.
Marilyn Morrison, community relations director for Methodist Hospital, and John Joseph, chairman of the Senior Citizens Commission have been named Arcadia Citizens of the Year by the Chamber of Commerce.
For the first time in the history of the Arcadia Chamber of Commerce, 2 women will receive the Citizen of the Year Award. Mrs. Dottie Burnett and Mrs. June Fee were chosen for the honor from among 10 nominees.
