Partick Anderson, 23, of Inglewood remained in custody on suspicion of murder charges for the shooting death of Henry Miller, 27, of Los Angeles, who was killed in the paddock at the Santa Anita Park race track, making this the first shooting at the track in its 55-year history.

Husband shot wife and himself. Deaths of Arcadia couple--Paul Thornton, 58, and his wife Maria Lockwood, 54--ruled murder-suicide. He died of a gunshot wound to the head and she died of a gunshot wound to the chest. They had been married a little over a year. They lived in the block of 600 West Huntington Drive.
Hunt continues for gunman in Arcadia car-to-car shooting on the 210 Freeway near Baldwin Avenue which left a woman named Betty Hernandez, 36, of Monrovia, dead. This shut down the freeway for several hours on September 4. On September 5, two people were found dead, in the block of 600 West Huntington Drive, an apparent murder-suicide. The Arcadia Police Department has filed murder charges against Lisa Melinda Welchert, an alleged drunk driver involved in a fatal accident on Huntington Drive which killed John Chan.
The family of John Chan, the 44-year-old Arcadian who was killed by Lisa Welchert in a drunk driving traffic accident, filed a claim against the City because they feel the police officers left Welchert apparently passed out in her car and returned to their patrol cars, allowing her to escape from the police in her automobile.

The prosecutor said Shi, a Chinese citizen, had plan to flee to Hong Kong after killing his 2 teenage nephews in Arcadia and an attack against his wife. Shi faces life in prison without parole if convicted in the January 22, 2016 killings of 15-year-old Anthony Lin and 16-year-old William Lin, and of injuring his wife the day before. The boys were bludgeoned to death in their home in the 400 block of Fairview Avenue in Arcadia.
Judge found that a man was sane at the time of the bludgeoning deaths of his then-estranged wife's two teenage nephews in the boys' Arcadia home. Deyun Shi is on trial for the murders of 15-year-old Anthony Lin, who was asleep when attacked with bolt cutters, and 16-year-old brother William Lin, who was killed while studying in a separate room, on January 22, 2016. Shi was found giulty on two counts of first-degree murder.
