Oak Tree Racing Association's 1996 season started with a bang on October 2. Patrons discovered a new look with the $3.5 million improvement programs completed over the summer at Santa Anita Park race track.
Santa Anita Park will undergo major renovations after the racing season closes this month. The track's new owner will be tearing out part of the grandstand to construct luxury boxes and a new dining area.
The Arcadia Girls Senior Softball Team was honored by the City of Arcadia on Saturday. The team placed best in the state and finished second in the western regional tournament.
The Trask Boy Scout Camp in the San Gabriel Mountains has a new multi-purpose building, thanks in part to the Arcadia Rotary Club. The building is named after Arcadia resident Nick Pokrajac.
Dr. Dino Clarizio, Medical Director for the California Thoroughbred Horsemen's Foundation, spends one day every week at the Clinic he helps operate at Santa Anita Park race track caring for race track personnel and their families.
Incumbent Maryann Gibson took an early lead last night in the race for three seats on the Arcadia Unified School District Board. Michael Lamb and John R. McClain also won seats. Min Mey Chang and John T. Wuo lost.
