A Braille Trail has been developed by the Arcadia Junior Women's Club at Wilderness Park. Approximately 25 species of plants and animals will be marked along the trail.
The City Council approved $32,000 for expansion of Wilderness Park. The city now has title to Clamshell Canyon southeast of the present park. 94 acres were purchased from George Elkins and 10 acres from Mrs. Ruth Schroeder.

The John Panatier Nature Center at Arcadia's Wilderness Park houses a wide variety of display: stuffed and live animals, rocks and minerals, etc. Programs offered at the Center are discussed.
Neighbors of Lutheran Church of the Cross, at 66 West Duarte Road, have complained about the placement of a school playground directly behind their property. They say they have found bottles, rocks, oranges, beer cans and shoes in their backyards.
Mortgage rates for senior housing rise. City has been notified by Department of Housing and Urban Development that the mortgage rates for such projects have been raised from 9 1/4 to 11 5/8 %.
Inter-racial problems at Arcadia High School are not as bad as they have been made out to be, according to 2 Associated Student Body officers, but the problems there are, they said, can be blamed on both Asians and Caucasians.

Several plans to add additional parking spaces to the downtown area were outlined to interested businessmen. The proposals included re-striping of the existing area and narrowing Wheeler Street, permitting that section to be added to parking lots.

Results of the 1985-86 California Assessment Program show test scores that were "the highest since these current tests have been administered" in Arcadia's 3rd, 6th and 8th grades.
