A Braille Trail has been developed by the Arcadia Junior Women's Club at Wilderness Park. Approximately 25 species of plants and animals will be marked along the trail.
The Whittier Narrows Recreation Area was dedicated on December 8, 1975 by Supervisor Peter Schbarum, the Assistant Secretary of the Army, Victor Vesey, and others. The 1000 acres include a nature area, picnic center, ball areas, etc.

The City Council approved $32,000 for expansion of Wilderness Park. The city now has title to Clamshell Canyon southeast of the present park. 94 acres were purchased from George Elkins and 10 acres from Mrs. Ruth Schroeder.
One hundred stuffed teddy bears were donated to the police department. All of the squad cars will carry the bears and give them to children who have been involved in accidents or other traumatic incidents.
The Los Angeles County Department of Animal Control, which has licensing responsibility in Arcadia, has increased its fees from $2.50 to $3.50 for spayed dogs and from $5.00 to $7.00 for non-spayed animals.

The Arcadia Board of Education is considering a new policy that gives students the right to refuse to dissect animals on moral grounds. Such students will have their teachers assign alternative educational projects.
The legislative committee of the Arcadia Chamber of Commerce will meet with the Board of Education to work together to bring state-wide pressure on the State Legislature to fund state-mandated programs & regulations. Support has been offered by Sen. H. L. Richardson's office should Arcadia proceed.
The Arcadia Board of Education has offered the California School Employees Association and the Arcadia Pupil Support Services Association a 4.7% raise for 1985-86. The Employees Association is made up of secretaries, custodians and non-teaching personnel while the Services Association is made up of psychologists, nurses, counselors, reading teachers, etc.
