As it now stands, there will be no busing service for Arcadia students this fall due to Proposition 13 cutbacks. The Superintendent and School Board are still seeking a solution to the problem.
A new RTD line (119) has been instituted between Arcadia and Pasadena. It covers the area from Lincoln Ave. to Washington Blvd., Altadena Ave. to Orange Grove, out to Baldwin and terminating at Fashion Park. Buses leave every 30 minutes on weekdays.
Arcadia's transportation program has just put into service four new 20-passenger Dial-A-Ride buses. Four additional new buses will be added later this month.
Parents with children in the EMR (Educable Mentally Retarded) program in the Arcadia schools have written letters to the state, county and local school officials outlining the difficulties EMR teachers are having controlling their students without help from aides (lost due to Prop. 13).

Area school districts did better than average on the 2004 California English Language Development Test of English learning students. Sixty-six percent of students tested in Arcadia Unified School District scored in the advanced categories.
Alhambra Superior Court Judge Alice Hill found "sufficient cause" to hold Isaac Campbell, 34, to be tried for the murder of Liya "Jessie" Lu. He will be arraigned May 7.
The state's budget crisis could mean that Arcadia Unified School District will suffer a shortfall of an estimated $2.3 million in the 2008-2009 fiscal year. Figures for other local school districts are included.
Fewer than half of the high school students statewide scheduled to graduate in 2004 have passed both the English language arts and mathematics portions of the California High School Exit Exam. Arcadia High School sophomores who took the test last year had the strongest showing in the local area with 89% of the 738 students tested passing math and 88% passing English.
