The Arcadia Board of Education made firm its plans for the Junior High pupils. First Avenue 8th and 9th graders will attend classes on their own campus, while incoming 7th graders will be divided between Dana and Foothills junior high schools.

Former Arcadia High School baseball coach Mike Parisi was arrested June 8 on suspicion of cocaine possession and of being under the influence of the drug. The Arcadia school board dismissed him. He will begin a 2-week trial period in drug court on August 7, where he will undergo counseling, drug testing, and a 12-step program.
The Juvenile Diversion Program, a Federally funded group of which Arcadia is a part, seeks to divert students who have been in minor problems from the courts and sent them to counseling and treatment. The program has come in for heavy criticism recently due to high administrative costs.
Arcadia High students are collecting toiletries and other items to aid members of the White Mountain Apache Tribe who were displaced by a massive wildfire. They have formed the "Apache to Apache" drive. On April 4, First Avenue PTA held their Honorary Service program and talent show. Many parents and a teacher were honored including 6th grade teacher Linda Davis, and Shuchen Tay, Jim and Sandy Rider, Jeff and Mary Ann Laun.
