The California Horse Racing Board has killed a plan by the California Museum of Science and Industry to extend the fall racing two weeks at Santa Anita Park.

Anoakia property annexation papers drawn up. The City Council has instructed its staff to file an annexation application and environmental impact report. It would be in essence a re-annexation, as the area was once part of the city and was de-annexed in 1904. The proposed area also encompasses 16 single family homes.

The School Attendance Review Board is being called the most promising juvenile welfare reform measure in more than a decade. It's intent is to solve behavior and school attendance problems before they get out of hand.
The University of La Verne has agreed to sponsor summer school in Arcadia to take the place of that cut by the passage of Proposition 13. Tuition will be charged.
