William Stewart, Postmaster since 1971 is retiring. He has been with the Post Office since 1941 and has lived in Arcadia since 1925. His father also served as Postmaster from 1940-1954.
A brief dedication ceremony for the new chamber building at City Hall was held on April 15, 1977. Total cost, including the remodeling of old quarters for new uses, was $903,000.
For the first time people 62 years old and over and those on disability may get substantial tax relief. Proof of age or disability required.

The Westerner Restaurant has been granted a temporary permit allowing patrons to dance on the premises. The temporary permit is valid until an ordinance can be formally enacted. Until this action was taken, public dancing was allowed only at the Santa Anita Turf Club.
Citizens responded negatively to a request by the Santa Anita Oaks Homeowners Association to close several streets north of Foothill Boulevard, and to the introduction of an ordinance raising posted speed limits.
The parents of Madonna Slavin must appear in Los Angeles Superior Court on November 1 to answer the charges of kidnapping their 20 year old daughter from the Hare Krishna sect and forcibly "deprogramming" her.
Lyle W. Alberg has been chosen City Manager from more than 100 applicants. He has had more than 20 years experience in city government and will assume the post vacated by Lyman Cozad as of January 1, 1978.
Marquee West was given a 30 day extension on its permit to operate. Joe Ramsey, one of the operators, said they are checking on a possible new location.
A new RTD line (119) has been instituted between Arcadia and Pasadena. It covers the area from Lincoln Ave. to Washington Blvd., Altadena Ave. to Orange Grove, out to Baldwin and terminating at Fashion Park. Buses leave every 30 minutes on weekdays.
