The new Robinson's department store at Fashion Park will be larger than originally envisioned. The proposed enlarged facility has been submitted to the City Council and approved.
There has been some hassle over the lack of restroom facilities at Fashion Park. The City Council would like to see 2 restrooms on each level open at all times. Stores make their restrooms available, but some events take place when the stores are closed.
Two Federal judges have declined to grant a request for an injunction blocking further construction on Fashion Park. The request had been made by PLAN (People Looking Ahead Now).
On April 21, 1975 Arcadia will start a Dial-A-Ride service. A ride between any two points will be $.50. This will be a 3 month experiment. More details on the service are given.
Plans for a $700,000 building to house the City Council have been approved, but the whole project has bogged down over the projected $89,500 needed to make the existing City Hall conform to the new building. A benefit gala opening will be held on October 12, 1974. The opening for the general public will be October 14, 1974, with ceremonies beginning at 10:00 A.M.
Public parking, which is becoming increasingly scarce in the downtown area, was given close scrutiny at the May 18, 1976 City Council meeting. Most Council members seemed to favor a parking structure to alleviate the situation. Comparative costs were given.
A gala benefit opening has been set for October 12, 1974. Broadway and Buffums will help the Assistance League, the Pasadena Symphony Association and the Arcadia Methodist Church to put on the evening from 7 to 10 at the Mall.
A non-profit foundation to work with the citizens of Arcadia in an attempt to construct on auditorium is now complete and in operation. Gives details of how the money will be used in case an auditorium drive is not successful.
