John L.E. Collier will seek re-election to the state Assembly for his 17th term. This is contrary to what he said two years ago when running for his present term. Dan Bryant of San Marino, Dick Mountjoy of Monrovia and E. L. "Andy" Anderson, Mayor of Duarte are still considering challenging Collier.

The newest park in the Arcadia area is the Peck Road Water Conservation Park at Live Oak and Peck Road. There will be fishing in the spreading basin of the Los Angeles County Flood Control District. This is a Los Angeles County Regional Park. Supervisor Peter Schabarum was on hand for the opening on June 23, 1975.

Senate Bill 275 (Ding Bill), which provides for collective bargaining, binding arbitration, and the right to strike, is causing great conflict between the School Board and teachers in the Arcadia district. The Board has voted 5-0 to support the Winston Act and oppose any State legislation that would replace its provisions. The Winston Act was passed in 1969 and required that School Boards meet and confer in good faith with teachers in determining salary schedules, fringe benefits, and working conditions.
Volunteer aides make the Early Childhood Education program work. the State mandated and funded program aims at giving youngsters from pre-school through the 3rd grade better learning experiences. Camino Grove is the only school in the district with the pilot program.
