San Gabriel Valley residents and medical authorities chastised the Los Angeles County Supervisors over the lack of hospital facilities and health care centers in the San Gabriel Valley even though the Valley has a large portion of the County's population.
The City of Los Angeles has filed a suit charging that revenue from unincorporated cities is insufficient to cover the costs of services to them. If the suite is successful, it will mean higher taxes for unincorporated areas.
Grace Clark has retired after more than 21 years with the Arcadia Public Library. She was City Librarian for a number of years and has been head of the Technical Services Department for the past 15 years.

Bruce Polay has been named the new conductor of the Arcadia High School orchestra. The 28 year old teacher had been teaching at Long Beach High School.
The Arcadia Public Library has joined the Metropolitan Cooperative Library System. Library users will have access to MCLS libraries, SCAN (Southern California Answering Network at Los Angeles Public Library) and SCILL (Southern California Interlibrary Loan Network).
Firemen Local 986 of Monrovia has obtained a restraining order against the Monrovia Fire Department that precludes participation in mutual aid with Arcadia. Final determination of a solution should be had by March 12, 1974.
Lyle W. Alberg has been chosen City Manager from more than 100 applicants. He has had more than 20 years experience in city government and will assume the post vacated by Lyman Cozad as of January 1, 1978.
Newly elected City Councilman Bob Margett has had a lawsuit filed against him by Roy Speirs charging malicious mischief for destroying campaign signs in April.
Mrs. Johanna Hofer has declared that she will be a write-in candidate for the April 19 School Board election. A vocal critic of the Board, she expressed her views on the issues.
25% of a $10,000 goal for the new Jerry Broadwell children's room has been pledged. A benefit concert will be held on December 17 at the San Gabriel Civic Auditorium and proceeds will be shared by the High School and the Broadwell Fund.
Residents of a 23 acre triangle north of Jeffries and west of Mayflower still hope to become a part of Arcadia. Monrovia has protested the move, because they had thought it would include properties on only one side of Mayflower, only to discover that both sides were involved.
