Description of the newly formed Crime Impact Team, which consists of representtatives of 8 cities: Alhambra, Arcadia, El Monte, Monrovia, Monterey Park, San Gabriel and Temple City Station of LA County Sheriff's Dept. The Team is an outgrowth of the West San Gabriel Valley Burglary Investigation Unit, which ran out of federal funds.
The California Museum of Science and Industry in Los Angeles has applied for a 2 week fair race meeting, to be held at Santa Anita Park Race Track from September 30 to October 10, 1979.
City Council heard testimony on problems connected with opening of Marquee West - a club opened recently to bring musical groups to Arcadia - and aim at the younger people in the community. Paul Fry, spokesman for Marquee West, promised to police the operation more heavily. The club will be open Thursday through Saturday.
The biggest community wide event of the Bicentennial period will be held Sunday October 12 at Arcadia High School. Music, food, dancing, booths. Event will begin at 1:00 P.M.
A gala benefit opening has been set for October 12, 1974. Broadway and Buffums will help the Assistance League, the Pasadena Symphony Association and the Arcadia Methodist Church to put on the evening from 7 to 10 at the Mall.
A surprise disaster drill gave the police and fire departments and the Methodist Hospital a valuable exercise. Arcadia High School drama students portrayed the victims.
30 people were injured on opening day at Santa Anita Park when two men became involved in an altercation. One dropped a gun and this was enough to cause a wave of panic which spread through the crowd.
