Dr. Vance T. Peterson of Arcadia has been appointed vice-president for institutional advancement at Occidental College. Peterson will assume responsibility for Occidental's external relations program, including fundraising, alumni relations, public communications and community affairs.
Richard Singer was named editor & associate publisher of Foothill Inter-City Newspapers, publishers of the Arcadia Tribune. He replaces Wanda Tucker, who retired on May 16.
The Arcadia City Council is considering changes to fees charged by the city through the Development Services Department. One change might be a $25 fee for new business license applications. The fees may increase for design review of new commercial projects and appeals from an architectural review board to the Planning Commission. The General plan amendment fee may drop and tentative tract maps for condos may drop. The city plans to increase fines for code violations.
Bradbury resident Richard Dootson, founder of the Arcadia-based Dootson School of Trucking, died from a heart attack and brain hemorrhage on Tuesday, May 24, 2005. He was 79 and famous for his wacky television commercials.
H. Richard (Dick) Closson has been elected president of the Huntington Bank. Closson has been in the banking profession for more than 25 years and has resided in Arcadia for 30 years.
