A developer of resort-style retirement communities hopes to build a 260 unit senior citizens complex on land currently occupied by the Santa Anita Inn.
Arcadia City Council will be asked to determine whether they want to extend a "resolution of inducement for tax-exempt financing" for the proposed Ramada Inn (now Santa Anita Inn) project.
Proposed redevelopment of the Santa Anita Inn, formerly Ramada Inn at 130 West Huntington Drive, Arcadia, won't take place until after the Olympics next August.
The Santa Anita Inn was purchased 2 weeks ago by developer Charles Bluth, who is already implementing plans to turn the hotel at the corner of Huntington Drive and Colorado Place into a four-star inn. Renovation (with a New Orleans motif) should be completed by January.
A site has yet to be located for the new housing project for senior citizens and handicapped persons. After a site is chosen, hope- fully by January 1982, another 21 months would be required for construction. Reservations and applications will not be taken until a few months before completion.
With senior citizen housing in short supply, the city redevelopment agency has tentatively endorsed construction of a 54-unit project. The location of the project is at 150 W. Las Tunas Drive, the site presently known as Marketowne Center. The complex, which will be called Heritage Park, was proposed by the developer American Senior Living.

A court hearing today will provide clarification on Judge James Chalfant's July ruling that stopped progress on an upscale mall proposed by developer Rick Caruso at the Santa Anita Park parking lot. The proposed mall is known as the Shops at Santa Anita. In July, Judge Chalfant ruled that the environmental impact report (EIR) that Arcadia officials relied upon in approving the mall was faulty in 11 areas and would have to be revised before the project can move forward. Chalfant could modify his ruling today, or allow the existing ruling to become final judgment.
