Arcadia police believe they put a dent in the local distribution of cocaine and marijuana with the arrest last week of an Arcadian, his son and daughter.
Marilyn Morrison, community relations director for Methodist Hospital, and John Joseph, chairman of the Senior Citizens Commission have been named Arcadia Citizens of the Year by the Chamber of Commerce.
At the Board of Education meeting there was some discussion of the Space Utilization Committee's recommendation to close two elementary schools, Bonita Park and Baldwin Stocker. Robert Kladifke, a member of the committee, objected to closing the newest and most educationally modern school in the district, Baldwin Stocker. Two public hearings are scheduled.
Dorothy Sherrell has been waitressing at the same Arcadia restaurant for 25 years. The restaurant has had four different owners during that time. At a surprise party in her honor, friends and customers gave her a paid vacation, her first in 20 years.
