As the United States goes to war with Iraq and the threat of retaliatory terrorist attacks raised the national threat level to High Risk Orange, the cities of Monrovia and Arcadia are prepared for the worst. City officials are talking about emergency response. The city has developed the Emergency Operations Center (EOC), where representatives from all city departments can gather to organize and respond to any emergency.
Family and friends mourn the loss of Sergeant Kyle A. Colnot who was killed in Iraq by a bomb. He had attended Arcadia High School in his sophomore and junior years.
Former Arcadia resident, Chris Wachter, who is an Air Force captain and served in the Iraq War, met with Temple city resident Vernon Isgrig who trained pilots during World War II. Isgrig encouraged Wachter to become a pilot.
Arcadia High School and University of Southern California graduate Bruce Matthews was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in Canton, Ohio, on Saturday, August 4, 2007. He played for the Houston Oilers and Tennessee Titans.
Pro Football Hall of Fame inductee Bruce Matthews was honored at Arcadia High School in a benefit for the Special Olympics. He is a hometown legend, having graduated from Arcadia High School in 1979.

The race horse "Return of the King" with jockey Martin Pedroza, won a race at Santa Anita Park. The horse belonged to the Ortega family, some of whom were killed by Bruce Pardo in a Christmas Eve massacre in Covina.
