Arcadia High School offers unique courses to provide further collegiate opportunity. For over 50 years, Arcadia High School has offered a variety of Career Technical Education (CTE) courses, allowing students to gain hands-on experience, such as in graphic design, engineering, computer science, dance, stagecraft, video production, and sports medicine.
Arcadia High School opened the school year with an added 800 9th grade students, bringing total enrollment to 3050. 50% of the students are new to the school.
The new J Building and Music Building are ready at Arcadia High School, made possible by passage of the $28 million bond issue in April, 1993. The new facilities include the Library Technology Center, the new nurse's office, Associated Student Body Office and the Trading Post student store.
For the third year in a row, a five-member team from Arcadia High School took top honors in the regional National Science Bowl and is headed for national competition in Washington, D.C., in May.

Schools: When a Native American group urged Arcadia High to stop using the Apache as a symbol, officials made it an educational issue to be studied--and decided by--the Student Council. Members of the Arcadia High School Student Council are scheduled today to recommend whether to keep their school mascot, the Apache warrior which has been used for 45 years.
The Arcadia Board of Education voted to begin a districtwide grade level restructuring plan, choosing a fall 1994 date for the change. The new school arrangement would be K-5, 6-8, 9-12.

23 Arcadia High School students capped third-place honors in the California State Finals of the National Bicentennial Competition. The new CAS (2) program, an acronym for Curriculum Alignment System and Comprehensive Assessment System, will replace the California Assessment Program (CAP), the Comprehensive Test of Basic Skills (CTBS), and the District Minimum Proficiency Tests. CAS (2) testing will begin in November for high school seniors, with all other grades to take the test in the spring. Advantages of the new test are given in the article.
Arcadia High School's advanced placement government class will enter the "We the People: the Citizen and the Constitution" Constitutional law competition in Sacramento, with the winning team to go the the national finals in late April. The same coach, Ron Morris, led a team to the national title in 1993.
George Stapleton, 62, an Arcadia High School chemistry teacher, has received repeated, anonymous threats that school officials believe are attempts to intimidate him into relaxing his grading policies.
