In 1993 the Arcadia City Council and the Redevelopment Agency implemented the Comprehensive Revitalization Strategy Program designed to bring new economic developments to the downtown district. The streetscape construction project has been completed and the revitalization is on-going with the Commercial Facade Rehabilitation Program (CFRP) providing financial assistance for storefront improvements.
Citizen input is sought on the proposed Santa Anita Commercial Center. The current proposal is 1/3 the size of the initial package presented in 1996 and would be built on 60 acres of what is now the south parking lot of Santa Anita Park.
Two men suspected of robbing the California State Bank on Huntington Drive on February 5th have been arrested. Roosevelt Davis of Duarte and Steven Wesley Berry of Ontario are being held in the Arcadia City Jail.
Santa Anita Companies have submitted a down-scaled entertainment complex with the new proposal for developing the South parking lot of the Santa Anita Park race track property.

One of the main components of the program is the Commercial Facade Rehabilitation Program (CFRP), which provides financial assistance to downtown merchants for store-front improvements. Garlan Roberson received $11,000 from the Arcadia Redevelopment Agency for improvements to his business, Sullivan's Paints. Since the facade improvements, Roberson says business has increased significantly.
5th grade students graduated from the Drug Abuse Resistance Education (D.A.R.E.) program. Essay winners Alanna Mori and Kelsey Tallon read their essays during the program.
