On January 1, 1997, Arcadia's float will be the community's 84th consecutive entry in the Rose Parade, but it may be the last one due to lack of funds.

Signs with foreign characters need review as signage may not be appropriate. Councilman John Wuo suggested that the Arcadia Chinese Association would be willing to unofficially review signage requests with Chinese characters.

The Arcadia High School advanced placement government class defeated 13 other state teams in the "We the People" Bill of Rights and Constitution competition in Sacramento. The 29 member team will represent California in the national competition May 1-3 in Washington, D.C.
Incumbent Maryann Gibson took an early lead last night in the race for three seats on the Arcadia Unified School District Board. Michael Lamb and John R. McClain also won seats. Min Mey Chang and John T. Wuo lost.
