The Arcadia Chamber of Commerce has chosen 4 special individuals to bestow their annual awards upon. They are: Joan Clive and Jesse Vanlandingham both tied for Community Volunteer of the Year; Mike Lamb, Business Person of the Year; and Chris Loomis, Chamber Service Award.
Joan Hallett, secretary to the City Librarian, died Tuesday at Huntington Memorial Hospital. She was struck by a car on Saturday and never regained consciousness. Joan had worked at the Arcadia Public Library nearly 40 years.
The Santa Anita Seniors Tuesday Club celebrated the 102nd birthday of Victor H. Christen. The Arcadia resident was also a guest on the Johnny Carson Show on his birthday.

Officer Mike Blair, with his partner, Rick Merkh of the South Lake Tahoe Police Dept. won a silver medal in the golf competition at this year's California Police Summer Games in Sacramento.
Burton Wallace Smith graduated Wednesday from Huntington High School with kudos from the President of the United States. The program at Huntington High School allowed Smith to complete classwork and take tests at his own pace.
The Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors has extended the summer concert series at the Arboretum for an additional five years. The California Philharmonic is under the direction of Victor Vener.
