Fifty-seven high school students throughout the San Gabriel Valley participated in Congressman David Dreier's annual Youth Volunteer Award program. Winners will be presented and honored today.
Twenty-three high school students from throughout the San Gabriel Valley were honored for their volunteer community service. The 2003 Youth Volunteer Award program was held at the Arcadia Community Center. Those recognized from Arcadia are Kelly Cole, Hannah Han, Jennifer Hsieh, and Heather Sayers.
Incumbents who were re-elected are Republican Congressman David Dreier in the 26th District, Congressman Adam Schiff in the 29th District, and Carol Liu in the 44th Assembly District.

Arcadia Unified School District and the city are collaborating on a $150,000 effort to open a youth center at the Arcadia High School cafeteria and extend school library hours for after school hours. This would take some afternoon pressure off the Arcadia Public Library.
