Arcadia resident Li Zhang, an assistant professor of physiology and biophysics at USC's Keck School of Medicine, has been named among 15 scholars for the Searle Scholars Program.

Air quality concerns were raised by track employees over fumes and breathable fibers being emitted by the artificial track known as the Cushion Track, which was treated for drainage problems by Pro-Ride Racing in late August. Cal/OSHA hired Colin Young, a certified industrial hygienist to study health risks posed by the track. Young will recommend the artificial race track poses "absolutely no health risks."
Measure A, an $8 million bond measure to fund a train bridge over Santa Anita Avenue, will need a 2/3 vote to pass. Citizens will need to form a committee to build support for this measure, to be voted on on April 11, 2006.
Isaac J. Campbell, 32, of San Gabriel, is wanted for questioning in the death of his girlfriend Liya "Jessie" Lu. He is suspected of killing her and dumping her body in a trashcan in the 1700 block of South Baldwin Avenue in Arcadia.
