A judge has dismissed a lawsuit brought by Michael Oddenino against Arcadia High School softball coaches Ed Andersen and Don Riggio. Oddenino claimed Riggio yelled at his daughter causing her emotional distress.
A 19-year-old man who was killed in a house fire in Arcadia was identified as Cheng Ming Dai of San Gabriel. A 16-year-old remains in critical condition and may be arrested and charged with arson. The house was located at 130 West Longden Avenue.
Obituary/death notice. A "tribute to Ed" written by Dorothy Denne. Ed Spielman, who worked for Core Media reporting on events in Arcadia and the surrounding area, passed away with his remains being returned to Ohio.

Ed Huang, an architect who works as a senior planner for the city of Los Angeles, gives a tour of his "green" home in Arcadia. His house is a model of energy efficiency, using solar panels and other environmentally and ecologically friendly design elements. Huang had been Arcadia's planning commissioner from 1992-2002.
Montecito Fine Arts College of Design has declared bankruptcy but intends to reopen. The college has campuses in Monrovia, Arcadia, and Brea. The school's founder is Ed Kuckelhorn and the Vice President is his wife, Trisha Zhang.
Ed Inouye of West Covina, whose family was sent to the internment camp at Santa Anita Park during World War II, died on February 19th. He was instrumental in getting the government to pay reparations to some of the imprisoned families.
With the winter-spring racing season less than three weeks old, Santa Anita Park has laid off parimutuel and other workers, and track owner Frank Stonach is being publically chastised for his leadership style.

Dena Spanos-Hawkey, director of literacy services for Monrovia, Arcadia and South Pasadena, is the keynote speaker.
Arcadia board reaffirms use of Apache name. The school board revisited the issue of the use of the Apache name and symbol by Arcadia High School. Native Americans spoke against using the name Apache but the board concluded that it will retain "Apaches," a name AHS has used since the early 1950s.Article by Ed Spielman
