Arcadia High School names Eric Elias as head football coach. Elias is a former assistant coach and an Arcadia alum. He was offensive coordinator at Cantwell Sacred Heart this past season, and has had previous coaching experience at Buena Park, Schurr, and Arroyo.

Dr. William A. Stark, 84, a retired dentist who had several medical issues, died after he and his wife endured months of pandemic visitation restrictions at his Arcadia nursing home.
Arcadia couple Harry and Sarah Sneider are fitness trainers. Harry is 69 and Sarah is 66 years old. They say that fitness icon Jack LaLanne, who died last week at the age of 96, was their personal inspiration and friend, whose motivation encouraged them to expand their training business and better inspire others to reach their fitness goals.

San Gabriel Valley Tribune/Star-News All-Star Classic for boys and girls basketball seniors will be held 3/25, making its return after a 3-year absence, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, which canceled the games in 2020 and did not return in 2021 and 2022. Arcadia 16-year-old Roger A. Lewis, who was struck by a car while bicycling, has died. The accident occurred over the weekend at Santa Anita Avenue and Duarte Road. The driver who struck Lewis was driving a 2008 Chrysler Sebring. Lewis was a former student at Arcadia High School.
Arcadia All-Star rock reunion planned for Saturday, February 21at Santa Anita Park to honor well-known musician and beloved Arcadia High School alumnus Joe Ramsey, who recently passed away at age 58. More than 15 accomplished performers will pay tribute toRamsey, including "The Third Man," featuring Arcadia musicians Gary Putnam and Curt Lichter, who recorded and performed with Ramsey during the 1980s as The Prime Movers and Dread Zeppelin.
Arcadia residents protest removal of basketball courts at Eisenhower Park and City Council member Roger Chandler's comments that he wouldn't want the basketball courts rebuilt because he doesn't like the "type" they attract. At August 20 City Council meeting, Chandler said the courts attracted unauthorized and unsanctioned basketball tournaments.
War veteran Mike Velarde, 78, of Arcadia, tricked his Spanish-speaking mother into signing the paperwork to enlist in the U.S. Army at age 16. He had served in the Korean War. A photo of Velarde is shown in honor of Memorial Day. He remembers his wartime buddies who did not make it home alive.
