They were charged for the federal crime of trafficking in counterfeit goods. If convicted, Chen and Lin each face a maximum possible sentence of 10 years in federal prison.
Arcadia Police Department launches Weibo page, a Chinese-based social media website, similar to Facebook and Twitter. Its participation on Weibo will enhance the department's ability to engage and communicate with a specific portion of the Arcadia community, with postings in simplified Chinese. Dana Middle School students released a weather balloon 80,000 feet into the air. It was made of latex and equipped with a tracking device that sent updates every 16 seconds to science teacher Mike Mora's laptop computer. The balloon reached its final resting place near California City, north of Edwards Air Force Base, about 150 miles from its launch point.
Arcadia Methodist Hospital celebrates opening of the new Hyperbaric Oxygen Center and its lifesaving possibilities for patients. A grant from H. N. and Frances C. Berger Foundation enabled the hospital to purchase and install a hyperbaric chamber in the hospital's Wound Healing Center.
