Monrovia man David King Brewster has been charged with attempted murder of a peace officer, as he became combative and began fighting with two Arcadia police officers for no apparent reason, on July 6, 2015 in the 400 block of East Huntington Drive. Brewster may have been under the influence of a controlled substance. He punched one officer in the face and choked the other officer in an attempt to use cause serious or fatal injury to him.

Police are seeking three men who attacked, robbed and carjacked a mother and son in front of their home in the 200 block of West Lemon Avenue. The crime occurred on March 4, before 9:30 PM, as they pulled into their driveway. The suspects got away in the victims' blue 2006 Lexus.

In two of the incidents, a passenger leaned out of a car to grab purses, and in the other incident, two men pushed a woman to the ground, kicked her in the face and stole her purse.

Local Arcadia ice skater Mirai Nagasu, a 16-year-old who is home-schooled, is part of the United States ice skating team going to Vancouver for the 2010 Winter Olympics. She has no aspirations for a medal, but is fulfilling a dream by just going to compete. Two years ago, when Nagasu was a freshman at Arcadia High School, she won the 2008 U.S. title in St. Paul, MN.

Arcadia launches the new Arcadia Downtown Business Association, with plans to revitalize the downtown district. Matt McSweeney is the association's chairperson and owner of Matt Denny's Ale House Restaurant on East Huntington Drive. City officials will spend about $90,000 on a parking study and about $18,000 in redevelopment funds to get Arcadia Downtown Business Association off the ground. The revitalization plans should work nicely with the slated opening of the Gold Line station at the northwest corner of North First Avenue and East Santa Clara Street by 2014.

Authorities identify dead woman found slain at her home in Arcadia as 76-year-old Chyong Jen Tsai. Detectives are still looking for whoever killed the Arcadia grandmother and stole a white Lexus RX300 from the home in the 300 block of East Forest Avenue. Three weeks before the killing, her home had been burglarized. Detectives are not ruling out this connection to the homicide.

Arcadia City Council clears way for massive new homes at 29 East Orange Grove Avenue and 1600 Highland Oaks Drive, despite opposition to the increasing "mansionization," from several members of the Highland Oaks Homeowners Association (HOA). City Council voted to move forward with both projects, finding they complied with city's zoning codes and were exempt from the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA). The two homes met the city's design guidelines and met the resolution that governs design in the HOA areas.

Arcadia Denny's at northeast corner of Huntington Drive and Santa Anita Avenue to restore collapsed windmill. The building's original occupant was Van de Kamp's Holland Dutch Bakery. The windmill had been previously restored and reactivated on June 29, 2016. About $100,000 was spent refurbishing it at that time.

John Corina, a detective for Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department, said video footage from the Gold Line train and businesses near the scene of the shooting last Friday, of two teenagers, supports the border agent's version of the story, that three teenagers attempted to rob him. One teen was shot dead. The border patrol agent is unnamed.

Teen brothers, ages 15 and 16, beaten to death in their home on 400 block of Fairview Avenue, just west of Holly Avenue. The suspect is their uncle by marriage, who is believed to have fled to China. The FBI was working with Chinese authorities. The victims appeared to have suffered "blunt force trauma." The suspect was already being sought in an attack on his wife. His wife filed a restraining order against him and began divorce proceedings.
